How to Celebrate Launching Your Novel in a Pandemic
Writing my novel was a labor of love that encompassed thirteen years. Publishing my book, however, took closer to thirteen weeks. The summer blazed as I prepared; media outreach, finalizing the cover, editing the book description, and perfecting the interior design took the majority of my time. Now, on day 182 of COVID-19 and social isolation, my book is available on pre-order and launching in 5 days. Miraculously it has already hit a top ten Amazon bestseller list. (Which is humbling, exciting, and perhaps a bit terrifying to be honest).
Alas, the need to socially distant prevents me from hosting a kick-ass launch party. (And my friends all know, I love to organize a kick-ass party!) What I want, to rent out Felicia Suzanne’s Restaurant patio and invite my friends and co-workers for drinks, hugs, and giveaways, and what I can do, online events, are vastly different.
I researched what other authors were doing to celebrate their books and came across this excellent article on BookBub I wanted to share with other authors and artists:

I decided on the Facebook Live option from my author page. I have accepted the reality of no in-person party and will mark this moment online instead. It’ll still be fun, so pour a glass of wine, and have a toast with me. Thank you for all the support, and thank goodness my husband is a technical wizard and can help me with the logistics. I hope to see you there, happy reading!
